A little something about knowing your own value...

Do you get asked to work for free? I've seen a few posts on twitter recently talking about this very topic. Despite your expertise, your education, your experience and variety of talents, you name it.. you get asked to work for free. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for volunteering and charity work. I am not talking about that. I'm talking about your job. The one that pays your rent, your mortgage, your bills. It's infuriating. You've spend years honing your art, or studying and developing in your respective field but some people seem to think that's worthless. Funnily enough those people demanding it tend to get paid to do so. Don't do it. You deserve to get paid for your service in whatever industry that may be. Know your own value.
I can't stress it enough.
If you do not think your time and efforts add value, a prospective client or employer won't recognise it either.
If you do not think you're worth it, nobody else will.
And that's not just at work. It's a life lesson.
